Harvey, the invisible peacemaker who was pushed in a wheelchair, 4,000 miles across Australia, bringing humour, curiosity and a different perception of the world. Harvey was introduced to thousands of citizens, celebrities, politicians and on one occasion, the Dalai Lama...
Who is Harvey?Well, one day a person said, “It is not, ‘who’ is Harvey, it is more, what he’s not!”
How could anyone have the same understanding of something you cannot see.Harvey is a name for something that everyone has, ones own conscience, ones own dream and ones own truth.
To me, Harvey ‘is’ peace. Not in the global sense, more the peace that the individual can manifest and experience.
Some people are dismissive, that they must have proof for something that they cannot see like electricity. However, love, happiness, contentment and peace are all invisible and anyone has experience these feelings, how can anyone say they are not real? I believe the individual’s feelings and instincts are more real than what we see, without proof.
I was a child when I heard of Harvey, the Movie. The invisible 6 foot rabbit, that brings the best out of people, good or bad. I never had even seen the film, but I loved the concept of it, that an invisible character can become the most important person, changing peoples perceptions and allowing others to think more of truly important things, which of course are invisible.
I decided to live with my invisible friend 23 years ago. It came to me by chance when an empty wheelchair was past beside my hospital bed, just after I suffered from a stroke. It was only in 2005 that I had the courage to walk across a country introducing my invisible friend Harvey, sitting in my empty orange wheelchair. It was only in a few days later that Harvey became the centre of attention and the depth of the conversations that came with it.
It is now over 3,000 people have met, spoke to, kissed and laughed with Harvey. He has been in many newspapers and had been on TV. Harvey has been introduced to thousands of citizens, celebrities and politicians, including the Dalai Lama.I introduce Harvey as the world peacemaker. He is the opposite of violence. Harvey can be of any colour, race or creed. I believe anyone who lives peacefully can become Harvey themselves and I have met many.
