The idea, the aim PDF Print E-mail

In spring 2007, I was walking across Australia, over half way reaching close to Melbourne.

My walk was about, believing that peace is here, now, not in the future.

The reason this is important to me is, how can anyone understand the feeling of peace, when you have no concept of it, thus I know each individual must experience peace in their own way.

My idea was mostly ignored or dismiessed until that day when the peace agreement was announced in Ireland. The mind set 'that there will never be peace in Ireland' changed that day, and a few days after I was on the 6 0'clock news in Melbourne, and just like many Irish people now abroad were clebrating the surprising news.

Later on my own walk, was taken more genuinely and with the help of friedns and even the media, I was allowed to meet the Dalai Lama on his world tour as we were both in Canberra at the same time, where the media decided the man who believes peace is here, should meet him.

After the Australian peace walk, I returned to Ireland, to think of a tougher challenge. To change the mind set at home, as from the US to Australia, many Iriish people did celebrate the peace agreement, but it never happened at home. I dont know if it is fear, or just negative thinking, but if anyone wants to expand the peace that was agreed, the most effective way to do it, is to celebrate it.

I now, aim to walk from Dublin to London, through all the capitals of Ireland and the UK, as a pilgrimage, called celebrate the peace.  I will be writing to all the mayors and politicians on the way requesting to acknowledge this path as a pilgrimage, to be marked where anyone can walk it in the future.
